There is much to recommend about this particular tour of the Scottish Highlands. In part, that reflected the guide (Kate) and the driver (Chris), but that may have been coloured by the 'wee dram' of whisky at the end of each day. Our guide, Kate, filled us in on the history of the various places we visited, which added to the tour and suggested a bloody past for the Highlands. The quality of the accommodation varied. Thurso, for example, was the more basic of the various hotels we visited. However, we were warned about this by Kate and the accommodation was never substandard. The group was a large, and mixed, and that was good because it blunted any potential conflicts.
As for Global Journeys, the company did a magnificent job. I would certainly book with them again (in fact have already done so). Jemma Rosen deserves a special mention here. She was prompt when it came to answering any questions I had and was more than happy to discuss options available when it came to transport in Britain. The tour would not have worked as well as it did without her.
