Africa Tours

Kruger National Park

It’s always a good time to visit Africa – this amazing continent has so much to offer. However choosing the best time to visit depends on your interests. Is it when Africa’s scenery is at it’s most vibrant? Or when it’s quiet and there aren’t many tourists around? Or perhaps you want to ensure you are there when game viewing is at it’s best? View our guide below to increase your chances of experiencing each unique region at it’s best.

Zimbabwe & Zambia

The dry season (May-Oct) is the best time for game viewing, however Victoria Falls experiences high waters and is most impressive towards the end of the rainy season (end of Mar-early Apr). The falls can be viewed from both the Zimbabwean and Zambian side.

The Okavango Delta is best visited mid Apr to Oct. The flood waters arrive in June and water is at its highest during Jul/Aug. During this period wildlife is concentrated along the flooded areas. Flood waters start to recede mid Oct/Nov.

South Africa

South Africa is a year round destination with the same seasons and a climate very similar to Australia. The Cape and Garden Route experience pleasant winters with little rain, whereas the Kwa-Zulu Natal region is sub-tropical, hot and humid during the summer months with mild days (average of 22 degrees) during winter.

Kenya & Tanzania

The dry season (Jun to Oct) sees an abundance of wildlife as the animals congregate around waterholes. It is possible to see the Mara River crossing in Jul, Aug, Sep however there are large numbers of visitors to the Masai Mara and Serengeti over this period.

Uganda & Rwanda

Year round with the exception of April & May when Uganda & Rwanda experience long rains. Late Dec, Jan, Feb and early March is the best time for gorilla tracking.
