“Japan Discovery, Cherry Blossom Tour”
Trip:    Overall Rating: 5/5
We have almost nothing but good things to say about this tour. The only small grizzle was about the number of Buddha and shrines included. Every day, "Not another one". There were things included that we would not have seen or done if we had done our own thing, and we appreciated this. Our tour guide, Kyoko, was top class. However, due to illness and accident we didn't really enjoy ourselves, (not Bunnik's fault) we are unlikely to travel again.

“Curry Heaven”
Trip:    Overall Rating: 4/5
Bunnick and Butterfly Travel were a great combination to tour Sri Lanka. You could not ask for anyone more knowledgeable and enthusiastic as our Guide. Sri Lanka is still a "third world" country but they are trying to improve - the people are friendly and hospitable. They are welcoming of travelers and realize that tourism is part of their future. The alcohol is resorts and hotels are a bit over-priced, but you could always find something to drink. The food was fantastic - if you can eat it, they curry it.

“A Taste of Sri Lanka - A perfect balance”
Trip:    Overall Rating: 5/5
The trip went very well, and Priya is an outstanding guide. I found the itinerary a perfect balance of wildlife, historical sites, cultural exposure, varying terrain, and the opportunity to see how Buddhist, Muslim and Christian communities coexist. The accommodation was excellent in every case, and the pace of the tour allowed free time, and never felt rushed or overwhelming. The food was exceptional, but perhaps just a little too many included meals, as I found I actually skipped evening meals on occasions where Priya arranged for us to stop somewhere for lunch (at our own cost) where the offering tended to be more than a snack type meal. All in all, for a lifetime solo traveller, I found the Bunnik's tour a surprisingly comfortable way to see a destination I have long wished to visit.

“Excellent holiday”
Trip:    Overall Rating: 5/5
The local tour guides we have for Jordan and Egypt were excellent, especially Mofid of Cairo. His knowledge of Egypt is exceptional and that made a lot of difference to the trip which became very interesting and informative. The tour coach were not very good, as the air conditioning was not working most of the time and the seats not very comfortable.

“An Amazing Southern Italy Sojourn”
Trip:    Overall Rating: 5/5
Everything about this holiday worked for me. Our booking agent at Global Journeys was wonderful, quick and efficient. The cost was reasonable. The itinerary really great, mixed and everywhere we went was enjoyable. The tour director (Alessia) was a wow factor as she was such fun and very competent. She livened up the tour and made sure we were never bored. The local guides were excellent too.

“Three bucket list destinations”
Trip:    Overall Rating: 5/5
Our group tour ended up being the two of us and after some in trepidation, it turned out to be brilliant. at each destination a guide was there to help with everything. In fact due to the time spent, you became close with them and they made the trip wonderful. Santiago was great with the recent history and the passionate guide who helped us feel at home. Galapagos is literally another world and just by luck, it was low season and so fewer people. We met other great travellers in the rich and diverse land. The closeness of the animals and the bringing to life Charles Darwin's theory was second to none. We would go back again. Cuba, a place that is safe, warm and friendly, don't believe what you are told as the Cubans have a different view on history and how they live, works and works well. This is an amazing land rich with culture and music and mojitos. Brilliant. Peru and the Incas and the level of advancement from 1000 years ago is superb. 70% of all food that we know originated from Peru. This is a must travel, but ensure you take your altitude tablets and drink the Coco Tea. The whole tour was the brilliant, well organized and actually great that there was only the two of us. Worth every penny!

“Spectacular Highs of all Kinds”
Trip:    Overall Rating: 5/5
I think the spectacular and breathtaking scenery through Bavaria, Austria, beautiful Slovenia (which I had previously known little about) the Dolomites in Italy then the Swiss Alps, was really the key to my enjoyment of this tour. Our Slovenian guide Ales, was a mine of information and passionate about his subject and he looked after the fifteen of us really really well. Being a small group we were more like a family;this was fun and reassuring for those of us who were sole travellers. The summer weather was fantastic, our drivers were skilled and really, I couldn't recommend this tour highly enough. A couple of hotels might be changed(we were the first group to do this tour) and I won't be eating sauerkraut again for at least a year(!) but these are minor details. An extra day in Interlaken would be good. A Mozart concert is Vienna could be an option;I would have preferred that to the Sound of Music tour, but that is only a personal thing. I will never forget the thrill of being up The Matterhorn.

“A fantastic destination with a great tour company”
Trip:    Overall Rating: 5/5
I would definitely use Bunnik again. They include a lot more what's in the brochure so there were lots of surprises among the way. Our quide was the best guide we've ever had. Norway is beautiful but Iceland was the highlight. The landscapes were amazing, the people are friendly, and unique experiences made this holiday one to remember.

“Mexico and Cuba”
Trip:    Overall Rating: 3/5
Got to know the history, culture and the people of Mexico and Cuba. A real eye opener. Sergio, our guide in Mexico, is very good and experienced. His commentary and explanation of Mexican history and life are both entertaining and informative. The itinerary led us to different parts of Mexico with its varying cuisines and we had different styles of accommodation. We got to taste some very nice seafood. Carmen, our guide in Cuba, is good while doing her talk in the tour bus. But there is room for improvement for her performance on the road. Not much guiding once outside the bus and not very clear cut about the logistics of the tour. Were pleasantly surprised by the variety of seafood we got to taste in Cuba. Cuban music and American old bombs are marvellous. The rides in these classic cars are hilarious. Cuba is not a country one goes for its scenery but for its history, its mystery after so many years of enforced isolation and for the pilgrimage for Che Guevara.

“Bucket List Trip to South America”
Trip:    Overall Rating: 4/5
No tour is perfect but this was excellent value for money, one of our most memorable trips, plus we made a few lifelong friends :) The weather was on our side, especially at Machu Picchu and the first day at Iguazu Falls but it rained pretty heavily on the second day. Our group, compared with the other Bunnik group was more active and less whingey, so we thank God for His perfect matching! I really liked the SMALL group concept. All of us survived the high altitude. Our local guide(s) were all knowledgeable and one was so helpful in calmly helping my wife when we had visa issues at the Bolivian border and pre-filling out the entire group's immigration forms at the airport! Our tour director was competent but we can only rate her 3/5. Accommodation was standard (though we were unfortunate guides pigs for Bunnik's new hotel option which provide woeful service) but the fantastic hotels in Machu Picchu and Iguazu Falls made up for it. Tip: When booking Easter Island extension, ask for a hotel upgrade as the default one was very very mediocre & a massive let down after our South American tour :( Ending with a cruise was ideal as it provided down time, especially to review our 'digital mountain'! Last but not least, though I started to get the flu on the last day, God miraculously provided us with an upgrade to Business Class, so I could rest before returning to work. Yvonne Brooks was fantastic in answering all our queries and expediting our requests. Yes I would recommend this tour... and I saw they have a luxury version, which I think I would have gone for re accommodation!

About Bunnik

Why you should choose to travel with Bunnik on your next holiday
Bunnik Small Group Touring
Bunnik Small Group Touring

When Marion Bunnik started Bunnik Tours, Australia didn't need another tour company - it needed a better way of touring! In an industry dominated by large multinationals and mass tourism, Bunnik Tours stands alone. Our aim is simple, to provide a better way for Australians to see the world. As a family business we understand that our family's name and reputation is at stake every time we sell a holiday. That's why we're proud to call these tours our own.

Small Groups of 20
Small Groups of 20

Bunnik's maximum group size is just 20, and even less for some tours in Asia & Africa. For us small groups make for a better holiday experience. They are more personal and you spend less time waiting and more time enjoying your holiday. Small groups are better for sustainability too! We get to visit smaller local businesses on our travels and stay in smaller centrally-located properties which are often impractical for large groups.

Return International Flights
Return International Flights

Unlike most tour companies, Bunnik include domestic and international flights from Australia in all of our small group tour packages. Plus our airfares have built-in flexibility so you're able to extend your stay, fly in or out of other cities or upgrade your flights to business or first class. Anything is possible just ask Global Journeys friendly team of consultants.

Spacious & Comfortable Coaches
Spacious & Comfortable Coaches

While Bunnik's smaller groups mean you'll enjoy plenty of space on-board your coach, you can also expect plenty of variety as you explore the world with Bunnik Tours. You'll travel on camels in Egypt, and on traditional boats in the Amazon, Egypt and Turkey. While in other parts of the world, we use the most amazing collection of jeeps, old Chevys, cyclos and rickshaws.

Unique Local Experiences
Unique Local Experiences

Small group touring is about being shown around by locals and really capturing the essence of the destination. It means seeing the famous attractions but also wandering off the tourist trail. So much more than just a coach tour, you'll experience the culture, meet the locals and savour the wonderful food. That's why we also include a range of experiences designed to capture the essence of the places we visit. Experiences like enjoying lunch with a local family in a small rural village in Sri Lanka, making Pizza in Sorrento, Italy, travelling by traditional style boats or exploring the deserts of India, Jordan and Morocco by camel!

Comprehensive Sightseeing
Comprehensive Sightseeing

Bunnik's well-balanced itineraries are designed specifically for Australian travellers. We put great effort into getting the right balance between organised touring and free time, after all it is a holiday! We include all the essential sights that others consider "optional extras", while providing plenty of time for you to explore & discover. Our sightseeing is carefully balanced so you don't suffer 'temple overload'! For example, in Egypt we contrast the wonderful antiquities with a relaxing visit to the clear blue waters of the Red Sea, while in Turkey we take time out to enjoy a cooking class in the surreal landscape of Cappadocia. You get to truly experience a destination rather than 'ticking off' tourist sights as quickly as possible. The end result? A better holiday for you.

Bunnik FAQ's

Some of the frequently asked questions Bunnik receive from their clients
What are the average ages of people travelling on a Bunnik Tour?

Bunnik group tours have been specifically designed for 'the not too young and not too old'. There are lots of tour companies out there catering for the younger party crowd or the older traveller so we like to think of our tours as being for the forgotten age group in between, that's people aged 45-65. However, we have many people enjoying our tours who are younger than 45 and older than 65. So you'll find we never discriminate on the basis of age. Please note though passengers over 70 will be required to obtain a doctors clearance before travelling.

Can I bring my children on tour with me?

Children aged 14 and over can travel on our group tours.

You say all your tours operate in small groups, what are the group sizes?

Group size is important when travelling. Small groups mean less time waiting and more time enjoying your holiday. For our 2017 season we've limited group sizes to a maximum of 20 across all our small group tours. Some regions like Africa offer even smaller groups of 12.

What standard of hotels do you use on your tours?

On our tours we use good quality 3-4 star hotels. However, rather than concentrate solely on star ratings and creature comforts we choose our hotels based on the following criteria: cleanliness, great service, atmosphere and location.

What type of transport does Bunnik use?

Expect plenty of variety as you explore the world with Bunnik Tours. You'll travel on elephants in India and Thailand and on traditional boats in the Amazon, Egypt and Turkey. While in other parts of the world, we use the most amazing collection of jeeps, old Chevys, cyclos and rickshaws. At last count we offered more than 10 completely different train experiences, including Japan's exhilarating bullet train. Yes, our mini-busses and coaches are clean and air-conditioned, but we think you'll enjoy everything else so much more.

I am a single traveller, am I still able to travel on one of your group tours?

Single travellers are welcome on all Bunniks tours and make up a fair number of passengers. You can choose to have a single room and pay a single supplement or you can ask us to match you up with another traveller of the same gender and pay just the twin-share rate.

On some of your tours you have a tipping made easy program how does this work?

In many parts of the world tipping is a customary practice and often makes up a large part of people's wages so it's important to get it right. Our tipping made easy program is a simple system that sees us collect tips at time of booking. We then pay these tips to our local staff and they take care of all the tips. Easy! Please note on tours where 'tipping made easy' operates it is compulsory that all tour members participate.

The tour I am interested in doesn't have tipping made easy, it says tips are payable locally what does this mean?

On tours where tipping made easy doesn't apply we advise you how much you should allow for tips, which should be paid in the local currency. If you are unsure how much or who to tip we suggest you refer to your documentation as a suggested tipping list is included.

Are Bunnik tours escorted from Australia?

Bunnik tours are not escorted from Australia. You will be met on arrival at your destination by local guides and your tour will begin from there.

Do I have to be physically fit in order to travel on a Bunnik Tour?

Bunnik tours do require a certain level of fitness and mobility. You should be able to carry your own bags as porter services are not always available at all hotels, and you should be able to walk over 2km on uneven ground and climb several flights of stairs. Passengers who are 70 and over will be required to obtain a doctor's clearance before travelling.

Airfares are included in the tour costs, but what airlines do Bunnik use?

Bunnik use a number of different airlines depending on your destination these include; Singapore Airlines, Emirates, Virgin Airlines and Lan Chile.

Can I upgrade my flights to business class or premium economy?

Yes of course. You can even choose a different airline to the default one Bunnik uses. However, please keep in mind that you will need to pay the difference in the fare you choose compared to the airfare included.

Why should I take advantage of your special airfares when so many specials are on the market?

Two reasons – our fares are special wholesale fares which are usually as competitive if not less expensive than the specials you see advertised. Secondly, if you book a tour with us and we organise the airfare, you are protected in case we need to cancel the tour for any reason (if you book a special airfare yourself and we cancel the tour, you will be charged change/cancellation fees by the airlines).

Is it possible to go on a tour if I have already organised my own flights?

Certainly, for every tour in Bunniks program they also have a land only price which excludes the airfares. Please enquire on the tour you prefer, filling in your flight requirements in the comments section, for more information.

Can I depart earlier than an advertised departure date and return home later than the tour end date?

Yes, your flights are fully flexible with the departure and return dates. You can depart from Australia earlier than the rest of the tour group and return home later after the end of the tour. Bunnik Tours is a fully licensed travel agency and apart from booking Bunnik Tours for clients we can arrange any other holiday requests for you before and after your tour. This includes; flights, accommodation, car hire, rail passes and cruises.

Why is my contact information collected when I book?

There may be times when unforeseen events beyond our control impacttravel schedules and potentially disrupt cruises, tours, or packages. These include, but are not limited to, severe weather conditions, acts of nature, and government travel advisories. Under such circumstances, it is critical that Bunnik be able to contact you immediately and reliably - including nights, weekends, and holidays - to make sure we've informed you of any possible changes to your travel.
