“New Year in Paris”

Again, thank you to Yvonne (Global Journeys) for her expertise in putting together our holiday. Albatross (3rd time travellers with them) pieced together a great guided holiday. However after an excellent week of superb accommodation and top quality meals we believe that Albatross let our small group down badly. Apparently this particular escorted holiday has changed recently and our last day of travel proved to be disastrous for many in our group. After our coach delivering us to the Station in France we were left to board the Eurostar for the journey to London. Huge crowds, trying to transport heavy luggage through the Rail Station, and then nowhere to store luggage made the trip a nightmare. I and many fellow travellers in the group felt very let down. We had people in our group unable to handle luggage etc and these travellers had to rely on fellow travellers. Albatross I believe have lost future sales following the "last day" debacle. A shame given the holiday on the days prior had been so wonderful. Cannot understand why the itinerary has changed and if they keep this current itinerary, they need to book travellers into 1st class section on the Eurostar and possibly employ an extra guide for that day to assist. Our tour guide himself was excellent and I believe he too would have been disappointed with the final travel day.

“Very Relaxing ”

Thoroughly enjoyed our Christmas spent in Wilderswill in Switzerland. The Swiss Rail Pass included in our Albatross holiday proved to be a great way of getting about and exploring the nearby snow capped Alps. Cannot thank Yvonne (Global Journeys) enough for the smooth way in which she handled our booking.

“Our Fantastic Adventure”

Our trip to Spain And Portugal was 18 days of pure delight. Our tour director John Made sure everything ran smoothly and that we were in need of NOTHING ! The competent driving of our coach driver Jose Antonio , the beautiful landscapes and historical sights we visited together with the sunshine and laughter of our fellow travellers made this tour very enjoyable. Thank You Global Journeys for your prompt and professional handling of all our travel documents and to Albatross Tours for compiling a wonderful tour package.

“Spain and Portugal”

The hotels were good but we found that their menus didn't always suit our Australian diet. One hotel in particular was not up to standard as regards breakfast. No dinner was scheduled at this hotel. Global Journeys part in the booking process was good. The trip was very inclusive and you cannot judge your fellow travellers, as Albatross has no control of bookings, it's hit and miss. Our boat trip in Porto was very ordinary the lunch was poor quality and was present on the table for sometime before we had lunch especially as it was a very warm day. Albatross should look at extending their trip to Barcelona most of the fellow travellers either went before or after and we went afterwards and found Barcelona a very worthy inclusion in Spain.

“Fabulous itinerary”

This was a great holiday. The itinerary included many interesting features. There was fantastic scenery, as well as delicious 'foodie' experiences. The group of 28 travellers interacted very well and we all had a lot of fun. Most of the accommodation was of an excellent standard, particularly the Regina Palace in Stresa and the Grand Hotel at Lake Garda. Unfortunately, our group missed out on staying at the San Luca Palace in the 'old town' of Luca. The alternative accommodation at the Best Western was a huge disappointment, particularly in terms of the 'isolated' location. Compared with the other places, it was well below standard. Although we knew in advance that this hotel was the 'replacement', it certainly was not a good choice by Albatross. This is the second time I have booked a tour through Global Journeys and, again, I was extremely satisfied with all aspect of the booking process.

“Easy paced holiday”

Staying 3 nights at each venue means that the tour seems far more relaxed. There are no optional excursions offered, so no extra costs. The tour itinerary has already included what are considered as worthwhile activities and there was a good balance between organised activities and free time. Accommodation was always in a great location and the smaller sized tour group was an advantage. A very enjoyable trip.

“Magnificent scenery and experiences”

Excellent tour covering magnificent alpine country. Very difficult to surpass the beautiful landscapes and scenery we experienced during this tour. Lots of walking in historic villages to absorb the wonderful atmosphere, combined with character-filled accommodation and gourmet dinners. Unfortunately all lunch stops coincided with shop closures in the towns for their lunch breaks so no chance for any shopping in the lovely European villages.

“What a wonderful adventure”

We had train rides that were unbelievable, hotels that were for the 'Rich and Famous', the food was top notch restaurant class, a great tour guide named Reinhard, of which nothing was any trouble, a fabulous tour itinerary with something special every day. Thank you Global Journeys and a big thank you to Albatross Tours, this is our third trip with you and they just keep getting better.

“Outstanding Upmarket Tour”

This being my 30th organized tour I can say that I was thoroughly impressed by Albatross. Maritza the Tour Manager was delightful and exceedingly well organized. The tour was well paced and the amount of time spent at places worked well; this being an aspect that I have criticized on many tours. The hotels were all of a high standard, had character and were conveniently sited. The meals that were included were most enjoyable. The tour cost also covered one drink plus tea or coffee with the dinners that were part of the tour. I certainly hope to travel with Albatross again in the near future. Albatross do not have optional excursions.

“Good trip”

Enjoyed Albatross 'La Grande France'. Tour was a bit tiring, on the go all the time with not much free time and getting to hotel late afternoon and spending too much time at lunch stops and some excursions. We did see a lot of different things which was interesting. Our tour guide was knowledgable and young. Hotels were good but a couple weren't in good locations, not near to towns so were a bit isolated, I see Albatross have changed some of these now so would be better. Would highly recommend Albatross tours and also Georgie at Global Journeys, had some very good savings from them.

Instead, we make sure our tours always have a much more sensible pace by including two, three, four and even seven night stays in each captivating city or region. When we design our tours we first look at each region and we ask what must be done, what can be done, and what should be done. Our objective is to give you a more rewarding experience and allow you time to 'stay a while' and savour the destination. We then break these down into carefully balanced touring days. Some days might have quite conventional visits to towns and cities. On other days we will add activities that are distinctly provincial, maybe quirky or possibly even something for the simple pleasure of it.

Albatross tours are genuinely inclusive and include all of those special excursions and visits, sightseeing tours and feature dinners. We even include the end of tour tips to your tour manager and driver! You will not be charged on your tour for special 'optional' excursions such as a feature dinner or entry to an attraction such as Neuschwanstein Castle. Why? We believe these expensive hidden extras usually costing over $100 per person per day are entirely predictable so we have already included them in our tour price. This means you will find it far easier to budget for your daily holiday expenses and you will have complete transparency on where you money is going. We encourage you to compare our tour prices on a cost per day basis, and take into consideration that Albatross Tours have NO additional 'on tour' costs. Rest assured, by the time you get back home and walk back through your front door you will not have paid any more .

Small Groups - Maximum of 28 people on our European Summer Tours!*

We limit the maximum size of each of our European Summer group departures to just 28 travellers*. In fact our average group size is just 22. There are so many benefits to travelling in a small group. Naturally less time is wasted getting on and off the coach and there are always a noticeable number of spare seats when travelling. Another significant benefit is the swifter, priority access you will have to all the attractions and special events. A more manageable group size leads to a higher level of personal service from your Tour Manager. Simply put, everything is just much more personal. Our small groups can stay in hotels chosen for their style, character and location – authentic hotels that larger tour groups often cannot consider staying in. Dining out is also more enjoyable as we can use delightful local restaurants rather than standard, larger group establishments.

*All European Summer tours are capped at only 28 travellers. Albatross Tours Christmas or ANZAC tours carry up to 40 travellers.

When can I expect to get my travel documents & itinerary?

Your travel documentation will be mailed 3 weeks prior to the tour departure date provided full payment has been received. If you are departing our fair shores earlier please ensure you have advised your Global Journeys Tour Consultant to ensure you receive your documentation prior to your departure.

Are your tours fully inclusive?

Our tours are genuinely inclusive, rather than fully inclusive. Albatross Tours feature no 'optional extras lists' or later charged excursions on our tours. Even your 'end of tour' tips to your tour manager and driver are included. We include all the sightseeing, 'special' dinners and relevant entrance fees as per the itinerary.

How many people will I be travelling with?

Our European Summer Tours has on average a group of around 22 like-minded people. Usually about 8 or 9 couples and 4 or 5 single travellers. The smallest group will be just 10 people and the largest will be only 28. When travelling on one of our ANZAC Commemorative tours or Christmas & New Year tours we have an average group size of 33 travellers. The smallest group will be just 10 people and the largest will be 40.

What is the typical age of an Albatross traveller?

The typical age of an Albatross traveller is 45 years and over. Our unique style of touring allows our tours and itineraries to attract a wide variety of travellers, from empty nesters to baby boomers and families on our Christmas & New Year tours. Perhaps more importantly, it is about the type of people we carry, usually Australians and New Zealanders. People who want to see and experience more, people who want a more authentic European holiday experience.

How do Albatross tours differ from other European coach tours?

Albatross tours are specifically designed for you, the Australian and New Zealand traveller. Are the coaches comfortable?

All of our touring coaches are first class, full size standard with 40–45 seats. The touring coaches are fitted with modern features including Wi-Fi and toilets (in case of emergencies). As with all touring coaches you will have sufficient legroom to ensure comfort while travelling on the road. Occasionally we may also use day charter coaches for sightseeing and in cases when touring groups are minimum numbers we may use a smaller coach. In these instances coaches may not have Wi-Fi or a toilet on board.

What is the standard of hotels we stay in?

We have sourced unique and authentic accommodation to enhance your touring experience. We select our range of hotels for many different reasons, their style, elegance, location, family run hospitality or their amazing historical or local character. With some accommodation properties, like the ancient caves in Matera, being beyond classification!

I am a single person travelling, do I need to pay the Single Supplement?

Yes, however individual passengers can request us to match them in a twin share room with another traveller of the same sex. If Albatross Tours are unable to match you in a twin share room by the final tour balance payment date the single room supplement rate will not be charged.

Which of your Christmas tours are most likely to get the best snow?

Unfortunately we cannot guarantee snow however the most likely locations are Switzerland, Austria and Germany for snow over Christmas in Europe.

How much luggage are we allowed on the coach?

We have included hotel porterage of one large suitcase per person. Please advise your Tour Manager, driver or the hotel staff if you require assistance with any further luggage items you are travelling with.

Do your tours include arrival and departure transfers?

No - you will be required to make your own way to and from the hotel at the beginning and end of the tour. Our passengers all arrive independently on different dates, from different locations and since many arrive by train or using car rental we are unable to book individual transfers.

How do I know when my tour is guaranteed to depart?

Your Albatross tour will be guaranteed to depart when there is a minimum of just 10 passengers who have booked and deposited on your chosen departure. If for any reason a tour is unable to be guaranteed we will usually advise all passengers with at least 5 months' notice prior to the departure date.

Am I expected to leave gratuities or tips?

One of the best things about Albatross Tours is that we have included all gratuities and tips in your tour cost so you don't have to worry about tipping on all included activities and meals. However if during your free time you are enjoying a meal in a local restaurant then please consider leaving a tip if the service merits it.

Why is my contact information collected when I book?

There may be times when unforeseen events beyond our control impacttravel schedules and potentially disrupt cruises, tours, or packages. These include, but are not limited to, severe weather conditions, acts of nature, and government travel advisories. Under such circumstances, it is critical that Albatross be able to contact you immediately and reliably - including nights, weekends, and holidays - to make sure we've informed you of any possible changes to your travel.

Arrival & Departure Information

What happens when you arrive at your destination, including information on airport transfers with Albatross

You will be required to make your own way to and from the hotel at the beginning and end of the tour. Albatross are unable to include individual transfers. Global Journeys can book extra pre and post tour accommodation to fit in with your flight arrival and departure dates.
