“Tasmanian Wonders”
Trip:    Overall Rating: 5/5
The tour was well worth doing. AAT Kings were excellent. Everything went off without a hitch. The Tour Guide was a wealth of knowledge and her comments were in lighting. Had a great time.

“Worthwhile ”
Trip:    Overall Rating: 4/5
Great trip overall. Great tour director, Paul Cotterill. Had a fun time visiting the various beach destinations and the in-between sites. I am just disappointed with the Novotel in Cairns where the cleanliness of the pool was not at par and room housekeeping was extremely disappointing (no vacuuming or mopping for three days, tea cups and glasses not washed).

“Disappointing Transfer and Accommodations”
Trip:    Overall Rating: 2/5
We arrived late at night in Melbourne. The transfer took a long time as we had to wait for almost an hour for the van to arrive and then for the driver to negotiate with three different individuals who had no reservations. At the Mercure Welcome Hotel, despite having requested a double bed we ended up in a tiny little room with two single beds, looking at a wall. The air conditioner was blasting over the beds and there was no way of controlling it. We were right by the elevators and it was noisy. The city tour was very good but the trip to Philip Island is of dubious value when you have to arrive hours in advance to get a good seat to see the penguins for a few minutes when they are hardly visible in the dark when they come out of the water. The Great Ocean Road trip is "pretty good" but it's a lot of time spent on the coach!

“Darwin, Kakadu and Katherine”
Trip:    Overall Rating: 4/5
Once again the AAT Kings Drivers and Guides were excellent. Especially Rob who drove us through the pouring rain from Darwin to Katherine and back and organised alternative transport across a flooded road and phoned ahead to order our meals at the road house. He deserves a medal. The rain did interfere with our plans but every effort was made to change things around and offer an alternative. It was really good to see Kakadu in the wet season and although it was disappointing not to be able to stay at the crocodile hotel overnight, we did have a really good day there and we saw a real crocodile. Our guide on that day was also excellent but I can't remember his name. The bus trip to Katherine and back was too much in one day - 700 km - and I wouldn't want to do that again. We enjoyed the stops at the road houses as we met some real characters and the food was very good at Emerald Springs. It was amazing to see the waterfalls at Litchfield Park and this tour was offered in place of our 2nd day at Kakadu. The hotel in Darwin was disappointing, although the reception staff were excellent. It was not a "superior" hotel, which is what we paid for and we had no choice about that.

“2 Day visit to Uluru”
Trip: AAT Kings Tour (YY47)    Overall Rating: 4/5
AAT Kings Drivers and Guides were all excellent. It was a very rushed trip though and it would have been better to have an extra day, especially as it rained heavily on our first night and the Sounds of Silence Dinner had to be cancelled. There is nothing we can do about the weather but no alternative arrangements were made at the resort and it was very difficult to find somewhere else to eat because so many people were looking for the same thing. The hotel we stayed at was refurbishing their kitchen and dining room so unfortunately we could not eat there.

“Superb worry free holiday”
Trip:    Overall Rating: 5/5
My Tasmanian Wonders Tour with AAT Kings was every thing I desired. Tour Guide Carolyn could not do enough for all 50 on the tour. Her knowledge of Tasmania 's history was very enlightening. Driver Darren...what a great guy and driver. Kept the coach spotless every day. Accommodation and meals definitely no complaints. Will use AAT Kings for future coach tours. Lastly Hannah at Global Journeys - I must add how very pleased and hassle free my booking progressed from beginning to receiving my documents well before departure date.

“Tasmania at its best”
Trip:    Overall Rating: 5/5
This was an excellent trip, ticked all the boxes. Both of us having never travelled by coach, always plane or boat thought we would give this a go. Very impressed, certainly converted to this way of travel. The places we were able to visit during the course of our journey simply 'wonderful', totally enjoyable. Would recommend this trip to anyone. Our Driver and bus Director outstanding. The manner in which they were able to deliver information throughout the trip was to a very high standard. Both to be complemented on their ability to relate to each of their passengers. Just a well balanced organised tour. Hope to enjoy more of the same in the years to come.

“Spectacular & enjoyable Holiday”
Trip:    Overall Rating: 4/5
Excellent excursions as well as accommodation except one. Tour director commentary and knowledge very professional. Good mix of travelers. Breakfast excellent, and dinners were good. Would have preferred dinners being provided every night. Early morning starts were inconvenient for + 60 year old travellers. Coach steps were too step for older/disable travelers. Should recognise requirements and needs of more senior/mature age travelers.

“Great trip but a little short.”
Trip:    Overall Rating: 3/5
Did this trip with my mother and here is my review, I'll try and write it from both my and my mums perspective. It was great to have everything organised and all the little places to visit that you wouldn't think or know to visit yourself. My mum thoroughly enjoyed it and value for money but I thought it was something I could do for $400 cheaper by hiring a car and organising myself. However as I mentioned the only downside to this is the knowledge. Our guide and drivers were excellent - 10/10, they knew their stuff and we totally enjoyed the commentary at least every hour of some little thing to look out for while travelling along. This is priceless, even the places to stop off along the way have a story or something to see that you just wouldn't know on your own.

We joined this trip after the others had already started a 'longer' west coast tour and after hearing all they did on the west coast tour this one felt as though it was lacking a little. It seemed to come and go without anything "mind blowing". If i have to be honest all I can remember is Bridestowe Lavender Farm and Port Arthur, and the lavender farm wasn't that exciting either, maybe just by the fact it was a short tour seemed to come and go quickly. Our group and our drivers did everything to integrate us, but the other had already been together for 6 or more days and just as we started getting into it - it ended. If you can afford it I'd recommend doing the whole Tassie tour, I'm pretty sure you wont be disappointed and see all Tassie has to offer.

Staying at the Wrest Point Casino in Hobart made it hard to explore Hobart with my mum. Even the closet supermarket was 1 km away. Finally our AAT Kings coach was awesome very comfortable. Optional excursions were limited but there was one night where everyone went on either Tassie Devils in the wild or penguin parade, EVERYONE thoroughly enjoyed no matter which one they did.

In summary - if moneys and times not an issue its worth doing and going the extra mile and doing the whole Tassie tour. But if your an avid internet user and comfortable using the likes of TripAdvisor and with friends (not necessarily looking to make new friends) you can probably work it out yourself for way cheaper, and this particular tour seems like you could fit more in, in the short time. Once again remembering you will not have an amazing guide! We hired a car after this tour and drove to Cradle Mountain and back to Launceston I was able to find a few small towns with some interesting things to do on the way so its possible. Highly recommend Cradle Mountain (which is not part of this tour but in the whole tour). If your a little bit older this trip (or the full one) will be perfect, again if you can afford it go for longer, with everything organised, amazing guides who know everything and meet a lot of new friends. My mum gave it a 4/5.

“A great trip”
Trip:    Overall Rating: 5/5
We were not aware that this 4 day trip was part of the 10 day Tasmanian Wonders trip. We joined fellow travellers in Launceston. The trip originated in Hobart 6 days earlier and covered the west coast. We were made very welcome by the other travellers and the tour director once we joined them. The tour director located us in the hotel the night before and introduced himself and gave us lots of information. Fellow travellers spoke of their previous 6 days being an excellent trip. We enjoyed every aspect of our tour. Everything went very smoothly including airport transfers and extra nights accommodation before and after the tour. Early mornings, usually 6.30am for breakfast, were a little hard, but understand as there was a lot to cover in the day. Gordon, the tour director, was caring, very friendly and was a wealth of information. We were pleased with the standard of accommodation. We would not hesitate to travel with AAT Kings again and book online with Global Journeys.

Will our coach be comfortable and modern?

Yes, AAT Kings have one of the newest coach fleets in Australia & New Zealand. Our fully air-conditioned coaches are equipped with modern features like reclining seats with seat belts and footrests, panoramic windows, an on-board restroom, and state-of-the-art technology including DVD player, GPS and PA systems. All AAT Kings itineraries include scheduled and regular rest breaks. Most of our coaches are also equipped with phone chargers and free WiFi to keep you in touch with the outside world.

What does it mean if I book on a non Guaranteed Departure?

AAT Kings have designated certain departures as Guaranteed Departures, which means they have reached minimum passenger numbers and will definitely run as scheduled. Global Journeys continue to add Guaranteed Departure status to tours online as they achieve minimum numbers. If you book on a non Guaranteed Departure AAT Kings will determine if the tour will operate no later than 6 weeks prior to departure. If the tour is withdrawn we will work to offer you a suitable alternative. If you aren't happy with the options offered any money paid on your booking will be refunded.

What documentation will I receive?

This depends on the touring style you are booking. Short Break bookings will receive e-documentation. If you are booking an AAT Kings guided holiday (First Choice, Best Buys or Inspiring Journey) you will receive a travel wallet and luggage tag. Plus, we'll give you a map of Australia or New Zealand to follow your journey as a memento of your holiday.

When will I receive my travel documents?

Travel documents for AAT Kings guided tours are delivered to the hotel or address you are staying at prior to your tour depending on the tour type chosen. We also provide you with a tour itinerary and arrival instructions by email, once we have all your flight information and personal details.

Who can I expect to travel with on an AAT Kings tour?

With such a diverse range of destinations and touring styles there is no set age or type who travel with AAT, you can expect a wide-range of like-minded travellers. Families with children, young couples, baby boomers, solo travellers, small groups and more can be found on our guided tours. There is certainly no age limit for touring, with children as young as 6 through to seniors travelling, however, the general demographic tends to be over 40. As AAT Kings is sold internationally you will also find that there are people from all over the world on their tours, particularly North Americans, British, Europeans and many Asian nations.

How many other people will I be travelling with?

Depending on the tour you choose and the time of year you are travelling our group sizes can vary from 20 people up to 49 people, so there is a great opportunity to mingle and make new friends.

Is there a luggage allowance?

Due to limited coach capacity, a single bag is allowed with dimensions not exceeding 30" x 18" x 10" (76 x 46 x 25cm) and weight not exceeding 23kg (50lbs). Carry on hand luggage is restricted to one piece per person, not exceeding 12" x 11" x 6" (30 x 28 x 14cm) to fit under your coach seat or in the small overhead compartment. If you have any concerns with regards to your luggage allowance please contact your Global Journeys consultant.

Do I need to tip my Tour Director, Driver or Driver guide?

While it's not compulsory in Australia or New Zealand, tipping is becoming an increasingly accepted practice in all areas of the service industry, but particularly in restaurants, bars and taxis. Likewise on your AAT Kings tour, if you feel that your Tour Director, Driver or Driver Guide has done an excellent job, then we would recommend tipping up to the equivalent of $5 per day. However, it's not compulsory. It is up to you!

What options do I have if I am travelling alone?

The beauty of travelling with AAT Kings is that you won't be travelling alone. You'll have a group of like-minded travellers and soon to be friends to share in the experience with. They also offer a room matching service on all guided tours (not applicable on Short Breaks) so you don't have to pay a single room supplement. AAT Kings room matching service means they will work to match you with another solo traveller of the same gender, but if they can't, they will provide a single room at no extra cost.

Can I travel with children on your guided coach tours?

Yes, they can accommodate children, however they must be over 6 years of age. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. AAT Kings do recommend that people travelling with children consider whether the itinerary is suitable, in particular the activities involved and the duration of the tour to ensure children's comfort.

Why is my contact information collected when I book?

There may be times when unforeseen events beyond our control impacttravel schedules and potentially disrupt cruises, tours, or packages. These include, but are not limited to, severe weather conditions, acts of nature, and government travel advisories. Under such circumstances, it is critical that AAT Kings be able to contact you immediately and reliably - including nights, weekends, and holidays - to make sure we've informed you of any possible changes to your travel.
