23 Day Trans-American Adventure Reviews

Tour reviews from past clients of Global Journeys. 62 Reviews. Average Rating 4.7 of 5.

I have to first start with thanking our tour consultant Yvonne, who organised our fantastic trip with not much notice. She made sure everything was covered which allowed our trip to run so smoothly. This is the first tour holiday we have been on. I was a little apprehensive prior to going with not knowing what to expect, but with Global Journeys it was smooth sailing from start to finish. The tour guide and coach driver were excellent and both professional and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The long Trans-America journey could have been boring and extremely long but the tour operator kept it fun, and the driving time passed reasonably quickly. I could not fault any aspect of our trip and I am looking forward to more trips with your company.

We were really impressed with our Cosmos Tour. The pace is full on but enjoyable. We only had 30 people on the tour so plenty of room to spread out. Our Tour Director Todd Asperger was fantastic (we have done 7 group tours before and Todd was the best Tour Director we have had)- a great tour leader, full of knowledge and information, patient and always friendly even when we had some fun with people not coming back on time!!! Everyone on the tour really got on well with him and each other and that makes for a good group tour. Hotels were surprisingly good. We expected them to be ok but maybe a bit out of the way given this is a budget tour, however nearly all rooms were of a very good standard and in great locations. Our "cabin" accommodation in Cody and the Grand Canyon were basic, but clean and tidy and everyone we spoke to thought they provided and interesting interlude on the journey. We covered lots of miles and Todd provided videos of each state either after or before we crossed borders. We also saw a selection of old movies that showcased the areas as we travelled, like Marilyn Monroe in a Niagara based "thriller" and North by Northwest which had shots in New York and Chicago - great fun as we travelled. Travel time was up to 10 hours on some days, but we had plenty of breaks on the way and also Todd pointed out photo opportunities as we went. This is a great tour if you want to experience America as well as see some amazing cities (New York, Chicago, Las Vegas, LA) and incredible scenery (Niagara, Bryce and Grand Canyons, Zion and Yellowstone NP). It was great to have a bit of time before and after the tour as well - a really big thanks to Michelle at Global Journeys for her patience with us through the changes and additional days we requested before the tour and answering all our questions - we couldn't have asked for better support.

All three of us had wonderful time. The tour Director (Jason) was the best we could have hoped for and went well out of his way to make everyone's journey perfect. The driver (Dave) was also just the loveliest person and did everything he could to make us all see everything. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone. We saw soooo much. Even though we were fully aware this was a budget tour, we didn't have high expectations for the accommodation, however were pleasantly surprised. A real life changing holiday!

The trip. What can I say. In a word 'Wonderful'. Much better than I had expected. In this tour batch (23 May to 14 June) total travellers = 46. Of this, 44 were Australian citizens and 2 NZ citizens. It was home away from home. All very easy to get along with. Jim Ryan, the tour director very efficient and helpful bloke. Always there for help and advice. Larry the driver - he was everyone's darling. We all loved him. He made sure that we had the best views possible by keeping the bus windows as clean as possible. Actually we saw him washing the windows at refreshment breaks, even though he is a Senior Citizen of very calm demeanor, and a man of few words. Always had a smile for everyone. As far as Global Journey's service is concerned I could not fault it. I admit I was a bit concerned when the travel documents were delayed a bit, prior to the travel, but that was insignificant in hindsight. The sights/sceneries between New York to Los Angeles were spectacular in more than one way, from architectural marvels to nature's carvings. One has to see it to believe it.

A++ from start to finish. First of all thanks Georgie, everything was stress free and you always answered emails/querys friendly and efficiently. I'll definitely use Global Journeys again. From the moment I walked into the Skyline hotel in New York until I stepped on the plane at LAX nearly a month later I can honestly say I loved every second of this trip. You can't even begin to contemplate the amount of things you do and see on this tour. Way too many things to list! From the big cities of NYC/Chicago and LA to museums and monuments in Washington, the amazing national parks where we saw every wild animal imaginable even including a brown bear under 100 metres away and we even played in snow!! You then end up in Vegas and LA in party mood. Doris, our tour director was a fountain of knowledge. I seriously don't know how she remembered so much detail. Always very friendly, extremely helpful to everyone's needs 100% of the time and kept the long drives interesting with activities, videos and discussions. Couldn't ask for a more professional tour director who would do anything and everything for anyone at anytime. John, our driver was the most incredible driver you could ever hope for and one of the nicest, most genuine guys you will ever meet. Nothing was ever a hassle and would gladly help you with anything. How he did it all every day I'll never know. Absolutely the best in the business. You learn so much and things you think you'd probably not be that interested in before you leave really surprise you and it ends up being a perfect blend of big cities/small towns/national parks and party towns you could hope for. The only part I hated about the tour was saying goodbye to the rest of our group who had become really close as the days went by, to Doris and John and the incredible country we just travelled across. My only bit of advice is if you are travelling alone and can afford the single supplement then do it. It was so nice to end a long day of travel and activities with some quiet time to yourself.

This was the first coach tour that we had been on so took it on with some trepidation, especially 23 days but we have no regrets at all. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and made a lot of new friends on the journey. We didn't find it tiring at all even though we were on the move regularly to cover the distances as the organisation was fantastic. Our tour guide, Doris, was very organised, professional, humerous, strict when necessary, knowledgeable and overall a very nice lady. Our Driver John was the perfect gentleman, always so obliging and a very good driver. The accommodation was excellent with a good variety from very nice Hotels to more basic cabins, always clean and in good locations close to amenities such as good restaurants, shopping centres etc. We also liked the option of not including meals in the tour as this gave us the opportunity to pick and choose what we had for meals as at times we just did not feel like a large meal. We also had excellent service from Michelle at Global Journeys so in summary could not fault any part of this great experience.

From start to finish this tour was amazing. Hannah was fantastic, no question from us to her was ever ignored, she answered promptly and was very informative, although at times I'm sure I had stupid questions - so thank you Hannah. Our tour guide Doris was so lovely, she was a wealth of information, she had interesting movies on board, trivia games & activities to keep people entertained, but also gave you space to relax and look at the stunning scenery. This was our first tour and it certainly won't be our last, everyday it was a wow moment. We had snow, we were lucky enough to see a bear just wandering not far from us, we were safe at all times. Our driver John was such a gentleman, nothing was ever a problem - such a fantastic driver. From New York to L.A is not a short drive and at all times we were in the safe hands of both Doris and John at all times. Our tour ages ranged from 14 to 82 - everyone all got on it was such an organized value for money trip. So thank you Hannah, Doris, John and Global Journeys. I have no hesitation in recommending your website and this tour to anyone. In fact I know of people who are now looking at doing this tour. Many thanks.

This tour goes to all the right places with two or three unknowns for good measure. Unfortunately for us, the US Govt had a shutdown while we were there so we couldnt get into the National parks included in our tour. This was very disappointing. However, our tour guide Russ and driver John worked out some new routes so that we could at least drive by and see some of the attractions. I thank them for this. There are a couple of places I would not bother with. eg ghost town outside Las Vegas. The owner of the place threatened our driver with a gun when he was asked to move so that our coach could get on it's way. The place was not worth seeing anyway so I would definitely scrap it!! All in all it was a great trip and I would recommend it!

The tour was awesome. Although when we were there the Government shut down, so we missed stopping at Mt Rushmore and the Grand Canyon, which was very disappointing. The tour director Russ, was very good at organising alternative routes and places to see. The bus driver John was great also, going very slow past Mt Rushmore for us to get some great pics. The accommodation was good, mostly clean and comfortable. I would definitely book with Global Journeys and travel with Cosmos again in the future.

This tour was an excellent overview of the US. My family group was aged 15, 39, 57 and 62 and we found something for everyone everywhere we stayed. Shopping, markets, theatre, car shows, museums and aquariums filled up our free time to explore the cities. We also had early nights in the middle of the tour where we just enjoyed dinner at our hotel. This was a great tour. Our baggage was not the only thing that came back heavier! Sure there were plenty of healthy options like Subway, fruit vendors and Panda Express but we couldn't say no to giant pretzels and deep dish pizza. Our director told us where to find the best steak, desserts etc. everywhere we stopped. The optional dinners were great value and many had a history to share or beautiful views. My favourite days were when we travelled out of the cities to the National Parks. The countryside was very different to what we see here in Australia. The geology was amazing.

Travelling Solo I had to be sure everything was well planned. I arranged everything over the Internet and was pleased with how easy this was. My Consultant ( Yvonne) responded to my emails promptly. The tour was very well planned and scheduled. The Tour Director Todd looked after all of the daily organisation and we all enjoyed his sense of humour which created a pleasant atmosphere for the journey. My friends and associates ask me how I enjoyed my holiday and I genuinely respond 'The trip was great , really great' said with a fond heart and fantastic memories.

Cosmos may be a cheaper option than some companies but our tour couldn't be faulted. We had the best guide I have ever experienced (and this was my sixth Cosmos tour) and a great bus driver with a clean and comfortable bus. The hotels were all excellent except for one and the only problem there was the smell of stale cigarette smoke in our non-smoking room. Our complaint was passed on to management by the tour guide. All the hotels were in excellent locations, better than those we experienced in Europe where some were quite a way out of town. The tour itself was a good mix of cities and country - with most of the non-city sightseeing being in a wide variety of National Parks. The pace was just a little too fast for us, although fine for the younger travellers. It would have been OK had we not chosen to do so many of the optional extras. These were all great but did not leave much time to do our own thing.

I enjoyed this tour very much. Our driver was very good and the tour director I consider to be exceptional. Todd was on top of things throughout and obviously spent a good deal of his own time each evening, organising onboard entertainment and information relating to our next destination. We were never bored on the coach. Todd was always patient and helpful with any queries we might have. I felt the tour covered as many interesting attractions as was possible, given the time constraints and the great distance travelled in 23 days. The National Parks were a hi-light for me. I will certainly recommend this trip to friends and look forward to travelling again with Global Journeys.

What a great trip. Thanks for the welcome back email. In relation to the trip - could not be happier with how the trip panned out. For your fellow clients we would thoroughly recommend this tour. It gives you a great insight to the east coast & the west coast of America and the vast contrasts of mountain and prairie lands of the mid west. We have not met anyone who is not amazed by the South Dakota Plains of Indian Sioux Territory. You are right there experiencing all of what history had to offer from the heights of the Grand Canyon to the depths of the Badlands in the Colorado Plateau. A special thank you to Global Journeys for their proffessional dealings in all aspects of our trip - right down to delivery of our documents and tickets to our home address in Sydney. This is the first time we have ever booked a trip online and we thought it might be a daunting experience. It could not be further from the truth. A complete seamless transaction from start to finish. Looking forward to future travels involving the excellent consultants at Global Journeys. (Team GJ: Thanks heaps Richard!)

Thank you to you Yvonne, and to Global Journeys for arranging a truly memorable holiday through Cosmos. The service you prided was indeed first class and we would have no hesitation in recommending you and Global Journeys for arranging overseas holidays. Cosmos could not have been more helpful if they had tried. We have travelled with Cosmos on many occasions as a couple and with groups of people and found this 23 day trip from east to west just amazing. The tour director Scotts knowledge of the many amazing places we visited was incredible and we were very fortunate to have the most wonderful and careful bus driver in John. As mentioned previously, having been on many Cosmos tours we both found this tour the best we have been associated with from all aspects in booking through Yvonne and Global Journeys, Cosmos and most importantly Scott and John and all the great people on the tour

Doris was an above average to excellent tour guide and Dennis the bus driver was also above average to excellent we no have complaints at all. The trip was frantic and fantastic. We got more than we thought possible for the price. Except for the accommodation in the cabins and Cody which was nowhere near the standard we had become accustomed by the rest of the accommodation. We were more than happy with what we saw & where we went, and how much fun it all was thanks to Doris and Dennis. We would recommend this tour to any who would like to see America. Very well organised. Great tour director. Heaps to see and mostly in reasonable time. Good value for money. Great accommodation. Comfortable coach and long days on the road not overly boring or unbearable. Plenty of comfort stops. Couldn't fault anything. Would definitely do this tour again, would love to see Yellowstone in Winter. Was amazing seeing the National Parks, Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Bryce Canyon, Mt Zion, loved the atmosphere at 'Grand Canyon' did optional helicopter tour to floor of Canyon (just amazing!), Badlands, Jackson, Cedar City, Niagara Falls (experienced 'Maid of the Mist'). Henry Ford Museum is something else! Las Vegas is good fun and I will return. Farewell dinner at Santa Monica Pier was enjoyable even though it was sad saying farewell to fellow travellers at end of tour, but have wonderful memories! This was our first trip with such a large group, but we found it very good after settling in with our fellow travellers, mostly Australian. We had a brilliant tour director in Russ Marcason, a retired teacher from Chicago, complemented by an equally brilliant driver, David Krug. They contributed to our overall enjoyment and provided us with much education as well as a lot of fun. The accommodation was better than expected at all stopovers, except Cody where the otherwise adequate and comfortable cabins were a bit smelly. One irritant was the space between the seats on the coach, which were not comfortable for long-legged travellers. A coach with a centre door would have been convenient, too. But, overall, an excellent trip across a big country.

Over all we have no complaints. Some very long days travelling, we sometimes felt they were just filling in time before we got to our accommodation for the night. Some days it would have been nice to get to our accommodation say about 4:00pm for time to relax before having to find somewhere to eat. Also some locations we would have like the full day to enjoy where we where. Chicago and Niagara falls. The National Parks were great. Would have be better in we stayed right in the park at Yellowstone in cabins. We felt that the hotel in LA (Sportsmen's Lodge) was too far out, the people on the desk were not very forthcoming with what to see and how to get about, although it was nice to have to pool to relax after 23 days on the go. Overall the accommodation was what we expected for a low cost tour. We would certainly consider Cosos again.

The tour director and the driver were also very good, both very communicative, friendly and helpful. The highlights for myself and my wife were the beautiful National Parks. We did also enjoy Chicago and the smaller cities. I could not fault the accomodation and the hotel staff were pleasant to deal with. All in all a good trip.

Great tour in every way from itinerary to guide and driver. A bit rushed in places ie. Washington which deserved a longer stay, but still value for money.

What an amazing tour this was. We were absolutely thrilled with the amount of USA we saw and experienced. The driver, coach and tour director were amazing. I could not have asked for any more from a coach holiday. Loved every minute of it.

Our Tour Director Barbara was fantastic and really made the trip so enjoyable. I'm not one for guided tours but took this one because my 80yr old mother wanted to take the trip and this was the best way possible. I'm glad I did it now as the knowledge given and the patience shown by our very professional tour director was marvellous. Loved it. I would do it again.

Lots of miles covered in a short period of time. I think it could be just a few days longer and make a couple of the days shorter driving time. Booking with Georgie at Global Journeys was fantastic, so very helpful in every way. We had originally started with a Flight Centre agent, which was a bad experience, and Georgie made everything seem so easy, thank you so much. Really appreciate that type of service over the internet. I would certainly deal with Global Journeys directly again for our next holiday.

A really great tour! Covered plenty in the 23 days from NY to LA. Hotels were better than expected, and motorcoach was first class, although, with 56 seats, there was not much leg-room. We were very fortunate with our tour director, Jason Capalongo, who, although only 34, was highly experienced, knew plenty, and really enjoyed his job. He added so many little extras to help us to enjoy the experience. (Of my 6 previous Cosmos tours, he was easily the best Tour Director). Our Coach Captain, Jeff Weeden, was also very obliging despite badly injuring his foot in a fall early in the tour. I am certain that all of our party of 15 persons really enjoyed all aspects of this tour, although, on a personal note, one night in Vegas would have been enough for me.

Oh My God. We got home on June 1 and have not stopped talking about our trip. It was fantastic and with all the talk to our friends I would not be surprised if you get enquiries as they were all enthralled with our stories. We couldn't believe how organised the whole thing was. We just did not have to think which is what you want on a holiday. We were both very apprenhensive as we haven't really been overseas before but need not have been because everything about the trip from the hotels to the Tour Director (Matt) to the bus driver (Rocky) to the bus, to our fellow travellers to the sights... I could just go on and on ... everything made us feel safe, excited and comfortable. Loved it so much we are going to do something similar to Europe! Thank you!

Best holiday ever! This was my first bus tour and I was a little apprehensive being single on the holiday, This tour has it all big cities, National Parks and then some. I truly believe though that the tour was that much more due to the fantastic driver Eric House and the Tour Director Scott Dworkin. Eric had knowledge on the places also great personality and was so caring for each and every passenger. Scott to our group was special too. Scott's knowledge, professionalism, character won us all over. It was great that he didn't overdo his history also and gave us time to take in what he was talking about. I can't wait till the next trip I'll definitely be doing this again and I've already let people know how much I've loved this trip. Thanks to Scott also for sorting out my room issues I know he was concerned, but for me it was seamless I didn't know until I over heard a hotel advising their staff.

I thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Our guide Russ was very knowledgable and helpful as was our bus driver, Larry, nothing was too much trouble. It is a great way to travel across the USA and see a lot of different places. The accommodations were very good and most of the time our room (with two double beds) was huge. Loved the country even more than we thought, people are so friendly. Would do this tour again!

The tour was excellent. Our Tour Director Jason was great, a lot of fun and really informative. He said that we had gone at the best time of year, weatherwise. We had beautiful weather, with many places having the autumn leaves turning, which made for some great photos. As a solo traveller, if you can afford to pay the single supplement for your own room, it is well worth it. Unlike the European tours where you get a single bed, this tour gives you at the minimum a queen size and sometimes a king sized bed. The accommodation was great (3.5-4 stars). Its just a shame breakfasts weren't included each day as I think a lot of people would have paid a little bit more to have that. In Philadelphia as soon as I got off the coach I grabbed a taxi which took me to the Art Museum so I could run up the 'Rocky' steps and then have my photo taken with the Rocky statue. Corny, I know, but it was fun. I jumped back in the taxi and was taken back to the old area for some historical browsing. Chicago is a city that surprised me. I don't think I would have ever considered visiting it, but it was a part of the tour. It was beautiful. The parks had some amazing sculptures in them and it was so clean. Its definitely worth a look. You are very much on the go, but because you are on the tour you don't really have to line up for anything you just go straight in and its so well organised that you see more in the limited time that you're there, than if you were to spend time there by yourself. This was the third Cosmos tour I've done. In 2011 I did the 16 day Best of Europe followed up with the 12 day Best of Great Britain and Ireland. I know that Cosmos is considered to be a budget tour, but the people you get on the tours are so much fun to be around and its such good value for money, that I personally wouldn't travel with another tour company.

We have not long returned from our Trans-America Adventure Tour which took us from New York to LA with 42 other fantastic Aussies. Doris, our Tour Director was an absolutely delightful lady who was highly knowledgeable of the places we visited, kept us informed and entertained and looked out for our every need whilst on this 23 day tour. Michael our bus driver was also great, greeting us daily with a warm smile, keeping us safe whilst travelling and ensuring our luggage was delivered to and from our overnight accommodation. Accommodation was varied from 4 star hotels down to quaint log cabins but all were great to stay in, comfortable, clean, well located and memorable for all the right reasons. If you want a holiday that takes you from one side of the USA to the other with everything from big cities to magnificent canyons, forests, lakes, mountains and deserts and the bonus of seeing wild life in their natural habitat then you won't be disappointed. Finding Global Journeys on the internet was also a bonus for us. We have never experienced better customer service than with this company and we cannot thank Frances Carr for her professionalism and great service. If I needed to ask a question my emails would be answered within minutes and if I chose to call she always returned my calls as soon as she was able. On top of the fantastic service we received from Global Journeys, their prices are heaps cheaper than if we had gone to a local travel agent. Our documents arrived well before our departure and all details correct. Thank you so much Frances and Global Journeys.

The tour was very diverse and good value for money. The Tour Director was excellent and every day had maps for us of the area we were travelling in. She was very knowledgeable and nothing was too much trouble. Mary was the best tour director we have had in the many trips we have done. For a no frills tour the accommodation was good with only a couple of exceptions. I still don't know why Cosmos take you to the north rim of the Grand Canyon when the south rim is infinitely more superior and awesome. North rim is ho hum. This tour covered the big cities, New York, Chicago and Los Angeles and in between we saw awesome national parks, small towns, prairies and mighty rivers. Lunch and comfort stops were timely.

The coverage of the country in the time given was very good. Accommodation was comfortable and often well situated. Rooms for a single traveller were very spacious and comfortable. The coach was almost new, brilliant!. The driver, Eric, excellent, very experienced and had done this trip a few times before, he dodged traffic jams, provided cold water & was brilliant. The guide Doris was good, we asked her to provide more information before the stop, rather than after, but she didnt, still she was sweet, she got sick but carried on well. Probably would have like to spend two nights in each stop, but then I guess there are flow on effects from that, like cost. Only thought was by the time we got back to LA, everyone needed to do washing which was difficult at a very posh LA hotel, or anywhere downtown. Another hotel, another area might have been better. Hey, this is the only critisism I can make. Our mob was brilliant and have made some life long friends, thank you.

Were just a little disappointed at how our tour ended leaving us stranded on an optional tour at Universal Studios having to find our own way home. This was something we were not aware of until the end of the trip and left us a little amazed. The goodbye was so sudden...and we felt that an optional tour should still get us back to our hotel as we thought that it was part of our tour.

We met in NY then did 23 days across to LA via Cody Yellowstone etc. My husband was especially apprehensive about the coach, other pax, and the content. However, we were delighted with a coach that was 4 months old and Eric our driver cleaned and polished everything on the coach every day. Doris was OK as a guide and the other passengers were excellent. We have life long friends. We loved America, the places we went to with the tour. Some of the optional extras we wouldnt do again especially the fake Mississippi river cruise boat and very average meal. Plan to do another tour with Global Journeys if ever we can afford it, the Spain Morocco Portugal is top of my list! Thank you, and we can definitely recommend you!

With 23 days on a tour bus we didn't know how we would enjoy it, but to our delight we loved every minute of it and we weren't ready for it to end. It was a perfect blend of cities and beautiful national parks. Even the amount of organised activites and free time worked extremely well. The tour guide made even the smallest thing exciting and was very well organised. She handled the challenges that occasionally presented themselves in a very professional way and her knowledge of the places we were visiting was excellent, right down to the perfect movie on the bus relating to the area we had just visited. We had a great bunch of fellow travellers from Australia, New Zealand, South Africia and England, some of whom we are still in touch with and with ages from 20s to 70s it was a lot of fun.

The tour was very good and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and had a brilliant tour guide in Scott and a great driver in Eric. We saw so much and the only part which for us Australians and English on board was a rather long boring day was the touring around Washington visiting the war cementeries as visiting so many became rather tedious and time could have been better spent touring around Washington. Yellowstone Park could all have been seen in one day and then perhaps the long drive from there to next town could have been halved by staying overnight somewhere else. When we booked our tour we were not informed that shuttle pick up was included and as we didn't get our tickets until 2 weeks before we left, (Ed. This is standard from Cosmos) we only discovered it then but we had already booked our own shuttle. Some of the people on the coach trip informed us they had had a shuttle provided to pick them up at New York as well so that was rather disappointing that this information was never given to us. The New York Hotel - Holiday Inn Express Times Square - was not very good. Good location but our room was never cleaned properly and we had to keep asking for soap and towels. We were there for 6 days and the floor was never vacuumed. The restaurant area is so tiny and badly set up so that everyone congregates in one corner trying to cook toast and get cereal and never enough seating for all the guests.

Was a great trip - made even better by great our tour guide Scott and driver Eric. The only couple of things from a non American point of view was that the visit in Washington of all the cemeteries was just too much and everyone on our coach complained that after 2 we didin't need to see any more! Visit to Jacksonville was not something one could get excited over - perhaps just make the Yellowstone National Park a one day trip. Recommending to our friends who intend to take this trip this year.

I thoroughly enjoyed the tour and found it to be excellent value for money. The variety of places visited from big cities to attractions in the west such as Cody, Pierre and Mount Rushmore. Yellowstone National Park was a great highlight, where we were lucky enough to see numerous bison, a black and also a grizzly bear plus numerous other wildlife in the area as well as the the magnificent scenery. Thought the tour was good. Some of the optional tours seemed to be a bit vague (the tour director didn't have the correct or enough information about some of the optional tours). I would have liked the last evening meal (an optional event) to be included in the cost, so that everyone attends. That would have given us the chance of all being together to say 'farewell'. Wouldn't it be great if 'gratuities' were included in the cost... tipping is not something Aussies want to be bothered with. A 'fun' name tag that could be worn for the first few days (optional)as it is difficult to learn everyone's name. Other than one hotel (Chicago)all the hotels were excellent! Thanks, Yvonne, you answered any questions I had promptly. (GJ: Prepaying tips is an option on all tours. If you'd prefer this, let us know and we'll include it in your quote.)

Wonderful tour of a Wonderful country. Tour director France Wray and driver Don Knight worked very hard to ensure no problems, Frances kept everyone well informed. Don drove over 4,000 miles, which is a long way to be responsible for soo many peoples safety, not to mention loading cases on and off! Accomodation ranged from excellent to very good, only motel which was uncomfortable, not even a chair in the room, was Red Roof Inn in Chicago, but it was in an excellent position, so I suppose cant have everything. Breakfasts every morning would have been nice, would not have added a great deal to overall cost. Air conditioning on bus was too cold, and air vents could do with some maintenance. Not enough time in Las Vegas. So much to see, another day or two wouldnt have made much difference. Most bitter dissapointment though was being taken to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. Grand Canyon is one of the wonders of the world and cant understand why you would take tourists to the North Rim.

When can I expect to get my travel documents & itinerary?

Travel documents, including any air tickets, tour itinerary, hotel lists, and helpful hints and other information are sent approximately 20-30 days prior to your tour departure. Your Global Journeys Tour Consultant can organise these earlier if you are travelling before your holiday starts.

Who else will be travelling with me, and how many will be on tour with me?

Cosmos attracts a wide range of clientele of many ages from all over the English speaking world. Cosmos offers an affordable way to travel and as such the size of the Cosmos group can vary from departure to departure. A Cosmos coach can carry up to 51 passengers however on many tours the number of passengers is below 50 people.

Will the coach be modern and comfortable, and how many will be on tour with me?

Your Cosmos coach is a quiet smooth-riding high cruiser, equipped with soft, semi-reclining lounge seats, huge pan windows, a high-fidelity sound system, and air-conditioning. There is a no smoking policy enforced on the coach, but there are plenty of opportunities to smoke during the frequent stops. Cosmos uses the custom of daily seat rotation which gives every tour member a variety of vantage points to see the passing countryside and city scenery.

What hotel standards can I expect on a Cosmos tour?

Our experienced hotel contractors carefully select hotels that provide the best value for money. Of course, different countries have different standards, but Cosmos endeavours to provide our clients with the best available in cleanliness and comfort. They are mainly 'superior tourist' and 'tourist' class establishments that follow the standards set by the independent Official Hotel Guide (OHG) or by national tourist boards.

Where are Cosmos hotels located?

When Cosmos selects its hotels, it does so with you in mind. A great deal of effort goes into ensuring that the hotels are suitably located to meet the needs of the tour. Some hotels are more centrally located than others. In bigger cities (particularly in Europe), we sometimes use hotels that are located in the suburbs rather than using overpriced hotels or hotels in less desirable areas. In these instances, we make every attempt to locate hotels near public transport and with good access to shopping and/or meals.

Are breakfasts included in the tours?

Breakfasts are only included on selected tours to the USA. Included meals are outlined in the itinerary.

What about dinners?

The number of dinners provided varies from tour to tour, check your itinerary for details. Where dinners are on offer, they tend to have an 'international' flavour. For clients wanting to sample some of the 'local' fare, there are optional excursions which feature dining out at local restaurants. Alternatively, clients can discover the local cuisine when there are free evenings without scheduled meals.

What is the difference between a tour director & a local guide? What are they like?

Your tour director will accompany you from the start to the end of your tour, educating you on the places and the history of the destination. Local guides are included in many cities to give you in-depth information on the culture, history and attractions of the city. Both Tour Director and Local Guides have a passion for travel, people and the destination and look forward to sharing their passion with you.

I'm finding it difficult to match two tours together?

Have you considered pre or post tour accommodation? We offer fantastic rates hard to find elsewhere and this may enable you to select sequential tours with minimal disruption to your intended travel plans.

What does the tour cost include?

Our packages take in each destinations's most popular highlights. They are carefully planned to include visits to places of interest and panoramic drives through areas of natural beauty. There's so much for you to look forward to! In North America you can ride a snocoach on Alberta's Columbia Icefield, tour Washington DC and Québec City with expert Local Guides, and cruise the swampy waterways of Louisiana's bayous. Please refer to the itineraries for a complete description of what is included in the holiday of your choice.

Do coach tour prices include tips to Tour Directors, Drivers & Local Guides?

It is customary worldwide to pay tips to Tour Directors and Drivers on all international vacations and these are not included in your quote. The option to prepay these tips prior to departure is possible however. Please ask your consultant to include this in your quote. You will receive Gratuity vouchers with your travel documents and all you need to do is give this to the Tour Director, Driver, Cruise Director and ship's crew at the end of the vacation.

Are there optional excursions & is there much free time?

In addition to included sightseeing, we offer a rich program of optional excursions, all full of interest and very reasonably priced. Optional activities can be booked through your Tour Director. Many optional excursions are mentioned in the package descriptions. Your pre-vacation literature will specify cost and content of the optional highlights that may be offered during your trip. This enables you to budget accordingly before you leave home.

Do you have a share program for singles?

More than one third of Cosmos' clients travel alone. We can provide clients with a 'guaranteed share' facility. This means that we charge singles the basic price and match up singles of the same gender in twin-bedded rooms. If we cannot find a roommate for a tour member who has booked on a 'guaranteed share' basis, we will absorb the single room supplement. For mutal comfort, we do adopt a no-smoking rule in shared rooms. Please note that 'guaranteed share' cannot be offered for pre and post tour accommodation.

Where can I find out more information on Cosmos?

We have a dedicated section on our website providing more detailed information on Cosmos including FAQ's on what you need to know before, during and after your travel; as well as information on their 'Touring Styles', and a comprehensive search facility to enable you to easily find more of their tours. Read more> (NB: This link will take you away from this tour itinerary page).
