Welcome to Prague. We will meet you on arrival and transfer you to your hotel.

This evening, a welcome reception awaits. Stay Three Nights: Almanac X Prague

Take in city views at Prague Castle, then stroll over Charles Bridge to the Old Town Square.

Tonight, dine at Alcron restaurant, a fine dining restaurant known for its use of local Czech produce. (B/D)

Today is set aside for a special experience, just outside of the city. The evening is then yours to relax or further explore. (B/L)

Signature Experiences:
  • Descendants of the Czech Republic's oldest aristocratic family welcome you to their 18th-century baroque home, Chateau Jemniste. Explore the estate and enjoy a special lunch then watch on in awe as birds of prey free-fly during a falconry display.

Venture into Germany and on to the Dresden Elbe Valley. Visit the Transparent Factory, a building where innovation and stunning architecture meet, which also happens to be the showroom of renowned car manufacturer, Volkswagen. Continue to Berlin for dinner. Stay Three Nights: The Regent Berlin (B/D)

Embark on a fascinating discovery of Berlin including a visit to Checkpoint Charlie and Brandenburg Gate, as well as the Checkpoint Charlie Museum. (B)

After this morning's activity, take an excursion to Potsdam, once the residence of Prussian kings. Here, you'll enjoy a tour of the former summer palace of Frederick the Great, Sanssouci. The evening is yours at leisure. (B)

Freedom of Choice:
  • Perhaps visit Sammlung Boros, a former military bunker that has transformed into a museum that showcases the private Boros Collection of contemporary art. You'll want to spend hours here with 3,000 square metres of exhibition space. Alternatively, visit the one-of-a-kind small streets and renovated courtyards of the artist district, which was once the centre of Jewish life in Berlin. On your route you will encounter traces of the eventful past of this former ‘tolerance district', in which different religions lived peacefully together.

Travel into Poland and arrive in Warsaw. This evening, choose where you'd like to dine. Stay Two Nights: Warsaw, Hotel Bristol (B/D)

Freedom of Choice:
  • Enjoy dinner at Marconi Restaurant within your hotel or at a Polish inn that features classic cuisine alongside live folk music.

Today you have a choice of experiences. The evening is yours to check out the local dining scene or relax at your hotel. (B)

Gain insight into over 700 years of history of mining in Europe with a visit to the World Heritage-listed Wieliczka Salt Mine. Be amazed by the underground passageways that began operating in the 13th century.

Afterwards, travel to Budapest, the romantic capital city of Hungary. After checking into your hotel, the remainder of this evening is at your leisure to relax or explore. Stay: Budapest, Kempinski Hotel Corvinus Budapest (B)

Fascinating journey through the former Eastern Bloc of Europe 3 , QLD, Australia, Oct 2018
This trip had a focus on the fascinating recent history of these countries including the fall of Communism, however it also covered the highlights of medieval and imperial history and sights of the region. It was our first APT trip, and despite concerns of lots of retirees, the group ended up being a good mix of like minded travellers in their 40s ...read more to 60s. Both the tour director Nick and all of the local guides were excellent - knowledgeable and friendly. Despite the need to change our initial plans due to circumstances out of our control, Juliet of Global Journeys was constantly helpful and supportive. We would book with both Global Journeys and APT again.
