Itinerary

Welcome to Calgary! Your Tour Director is on hand late this afternoon to answer any questions.

The discovery of oil converted this ranching town into a sophisticated city. It is also home to the world-famous Calgary Stampede. See many of the city's attractions, including Canada Olympic Park and the Saddledome. Motor west through the foothills and into Banff National Park, gateway to the majestic Canadian Rockies. An orientation tour highlights Banff's unspoiled beauty.

Banff is one of Canada's favourite year-round resorts, with summer activities such as hiking, boating, and fishing. With a free day, your Tour Director will have many suggestions, including an optional helicopter ride over the Canadian Rockies.

Enjoy a day of scenic grandeur. First stop is Lake Louise, whose turquoise waters create a natural mirror that reflects the surroundings. Up next: a stop at the Columbia Icefield to experience the Ice Explorer, an all-terrain vehicle that travels on ice measuring 750 feet thick. Then, journey north into Jasper National Park, where precipitous gorges, snowcapped summits, and lakes of exquisite blues and greens come into view as the motorcoach scales three mountain passes. Later, perhaps take an optional float trip down the Athabasca River. Enjoy an orientation tour of the town of Jasper upon arrival.

Today, join our optional excursion to Maligne Lake and Spirit Island, where you embark on a narrated cruise of the lake. The balance of the day is free to enjoy everything Jasper has to offer-from guided hikes and quaint shops to meandering wildlife.

Depart Jasper and follow the Fraser River to the base of Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies. The Yellowhead Highway continues south along the mighty Thompson River, with spectacular views of the Monashee Mountains. Overnight in Kamloops.

As you travel through British Columbia's Coast Mountain Range to its majestic Pacific coastline, the vegetation changes from desert landscape to lush alpine forest. Board your ferry for the spectacular crossing to Vancouver Island. Sightseeing in Victoria includes world-famous Butchart Gardens, the Inner Harbour, Bastion Square, and Thunderbird Park. This evening, consider a stroll along the lively Waterfront Promenade.

Today is free to explore on your own. You may choose to join an optional wildlife and whale watching trip cruising the beautiful waters of the San Juan and Gulf Islands, looking for whales, porpoises, seals, and eagles. Your Tour Director will have ideas for enjoying this most British of Canadian cities.

This morning, set sail across the Strait of Georgia and through the spectacular Gulf Islands. In Vancouver, city sightseeing includes Stanley Park, Gastown, Chinatown, and other famous landmarks. The remainder of the day is free to explore Robson Street and experience British Columbia's premier shopping and entertainment location.

Your holiday ends this morning. You may choose to extend your holiday with extra nights and explore Vancouver further.

A great tour through the Canadian Rockies. 1 , NSW, Australia, May 2019
A great tour through the Canadian Rockies where we were able to see such wildlife as grizzlie and black bears, moose, elk, deer and bald eagles all from the comfort of our coach seat. The accommodation arranged for the tour was excellent. The optional tours available are something I urge anyone on the tour to consider as i felt they made the trip more ...read more memorable. The two people who really helped make the trip a success were our tour guide Elaine and coach driver Kong. Their organisation and approachable manner, their knowledge of the regions and humour kept our group amused throughout the trip.
An effortless and worry-free way to travel through the Canadian Rockies 5 , NSW, Australia, May 2018
May was the perfect time of year to travel and I loved that this tour took me to see all the scenic places in the Rockies, yet gave me the freedom to choose where I dined and the excursions that interested me.
Excellent trip through fabulous scenery 6 , NSW, Australia, Sep 2017
Our 10 day Rockies trip was brilliant, well organised and accommodation was good with a couple of really flash hotels! Our Tour Director, Mark Love, a native of Alberta, was well informed and fun, and our bus driver, Norm, was friendly, helpful and flexible. September was a good time to travel, not too cold, fewer tourists (although we were surprised ...read more as to how many there were), fresh snow on the peaks and beautiful autumn colours. Our coach was a good mix of people, mainly older, but from Canada, Australia, USA and the UK. We thoroughly enjoyed it all.

Wonderful highlights - Banff, saw bear cubs running across the road. Lake Louise and Columbia Icefields - awesome. Each day became more awesome. Maligne Lake and Athabasca Glacier, spectacular! Day 6 and 7 are extremely long days on the coach, but we did love the visit to the town of Hope where Slyvester Stallone made Rambo First Blood. Global Journeys have made an interesting holiday at a reasonable price. It is a shame that no breakfasts are supplied as some of us need something to get us moving in the mornings. The accommodation in places was excellent in most places. Wonderful trip with great memories.
Rocky Mountains Wow! 2 , SA, Australia, Jul 2017
The Cosmos tour was excellent. Good hotels in good locations. Excellent beds making for sound sleep. The tour was well planned and executed. Our tour director Mark Love made each day effortless. Very well organised from the start with Georgie Walpole at Global Journeys always on hand to answer questions, as this was our first coach tour.
