I especially enjoyed the seaplane ride at Victoria and the optional helicopter ride from Banff, the Butchart Gardens and the Icefield Parkway. Others in tour group were friendly. Bought some nice clothes: Tshirts including a 'wolf' one; bought good black and white jumper with matching beanie- also some attractive Indian cultural type jewellery. Enjoyed ...read more staying at those premium hotels - the Banff Springs and Chateau Lake Louise with their premium room locations. Nice change of scene with the Jasper lodge type hotel. Weather could have been better in first half of tour. For mid July it was quite cool (still we were up 2 to 3, 000 feet) and I developed a cold, it didn't last and by the Rocky Mountaineer (nice to be on it with good service & food - but too expensive) it was gone.
This was our 2nd APT tour having already done Vietnam and Cambodia. The tour was very well organised and nothing was too much trouble for our tour director Judy. The accommodation was of a very good standard and we certainly saw many beautiful places. The freedom of choice experiences were also very good. Still can't believe that I went zip-lining ...read more in Whistler. We also enjoyed the Rocky Mountaineer. The food was excellent but unfortunately the smoke from the forest fires detracted from some of the views of the Rockies.
It was a pretty "full on"" tour with a couple of pretty long days on the coach. Think that we really find the river cruising more relaxing but we wouldn't have been able to see and do all we did without this. Georgie form Global Journeys was very helpful with any booking queries we had along the way. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend both APT and Global Journeys.
